The Global Forum on Agricultural Research (GFAR) is an innovative attempt to work towards a global system of agricultural research for development. Complementarity GFAR strives to develop a global agricultural research system by drawing on the complementary strengths of stakeholders. Additionality GFAR supports programmes and projects that aim specifically to add value to what each stakeholder can do on its own. Subsidiarity Programmes and projects are planned and managed at the lowest level at which thay can be effectively executed (national, sub-regional, regional or global). Involvement of all Stakeholders GFAR operates through its stakeholders and mobilizes all stakeholders in planning and executing its programmes and activities. The NARS of the developing countries, together with their regional and sub-regional fora, are the cornerstones of the global agricultural research system that GFAR aims to create. Partnership GFAR's work programme supports the evolution of the development-aid concept towards that of full partners with common interests collaborating for mutual benefits. |
