Muchoki, Lucy
Lucy Muchoki is a Kenyan and current C.E.O of Pan African Agribusiness & Agro-Industry Consortium, a Pan African platform that mobilizes and supports the African Agribusiness and Agro industry.
She is a specialist in business development and marketing. She majored in sociology at the University of Nairobi and a master’s degree in Marketing and Business administration. She is the private sector representative at the board of FARA (Forum for Agricultural Research in Africa), ASARECA (Association for Strengthening Agriculture and Research in Eastern and Central Africa) And Global Forum for Agricultural Research (GFAR).
She is a strong advocate for partnership between the private sector and research Institutions. She has worked with various research institutions in the commercialization and uptake of Research.
Beside this, she has vast experience in the field of Agribusiness development, gained through working with various local and international organizations at a senior level.
Apart from this, Lucy works with various farmer groups and particularly the women, practicing organic farming and linking them to both local and international markets.
She is serving as a member of the Thematic Working Group (TWG) in Agribusiness, Value addition and market Access at the Agriculture Coordinating Unit, Kenya Government, (ASCU).The TWG is the think tank that drives the agenda of the Agricultural Sector in Kenya.
Lucy is also playing a vital role of cordinating the participation of the Private Sector (Non State Actors) in the CAADP process. She is the overall Vice Chair of the Non state actors group which include representatives of regional farmer organizations, Regional Economic commissions (RECS), NGO’s, INGO’s and Development partners.
She has extensive experience in building of enterprises from incubation stage to full establishment. She was one of the founding member of the first Incubation project in the Country namely KEKOBI-Kenya Country Business Incubator programme funded by World Bank.
