Management Team
Composition
The Global Forum’s Management Team consists of the Chair and Vice-Chair of GFAR, the two members of the GFAR facilitating agencies (FAO and IFAD) who are members of the GFAR Steering Committee, the Chair of the Forum’s Donor Support Group, and the Executive Secretary of the Global Forum who acts as the Member Secretary of the Team and the Chair of the Programme Committee.
The Purpose of the Management Team
The Global Forum’s Management Team acts as the interface between the Forum’s stakeholder-led Steering Committee and the Forum’s Secretariat. This arrangement is intended (i) to ensure that the Steering Committee and the Secretariat interact continuously (ii) to strengthen the management capacity of the Forum’s Secretariat, and (iii) to provide an overview of how the decisions taken by the Forum’s Steering Committee are implemented.
The Forum’s Management Team can invite specific members of the Forum’s Steering Committee to any of its meetings when the topics covered relate to the specific constituency of the Steering Committee member in question. They can also invite any member of the staff of the GFAR Secretariat to attend when they feel that his/her support is required. The Chairperson can also invite any expert as an observer if they feel that he or she is need to give valuable inputs into the decision-making process.
The Management Team’s Tasks
The specific tasks undertaken by the Management Committee include the following:
- Reviewing the progress made by the Forum’s stakeholders and the GFAR Secretariat since the last Forum Steering Committee meeting
- Reviewing the contacts that the Chairperson and the Vice-Chairperson have made over the period under review.
- Discussing and agreeing upon the draft GFAR Secretariat Program of Work before it is submitted to the Forum’s Steering Committee.
- Reviewing the Forum’s financial situation and suggesting necessary budgetary adjustments, when needed.
- Advising on the agenda for the next Forum Steering Committee meeting.
- Examining and approving financial contributions made by the Forum within the annual budget approved by the Forum’s Steering Committee.
- Advising the Secretariat as to how best to orient its efforts.
