The venue

The GCARD 2010 Conference will be held in Montpellier (France) at the Corum Conference Center.

MONTPELLIER

Montpellier is the capital of the region of Languedoc-Roussillon. Only seven kilometers from the sea, the city lies midway between Spain and Italy in the heart of the Mediterranean basin.

Weather 
In Spring, the average temperature is between 10° at night and 18 ° at day, usually sunny.

Local transportation
Montpellier offers a comprehensive network of buses and trams, available from 5 am to 1 am.

Banking and credit cards
Banks are open generally from 9:00 to 16:30 with a break at lunch time, from Monday to Friday. Cash machines can be found almost everywhere, even in the Corum conference center.

Shopping
Most shops are open from 9 or 10 am until 7 pm. On Sunday shops are closed.

Restaurants
A large variety of restaurants and cafés are scattered throughout Montpellier, with a very large offer downtown. Some of them are opened late at night. Prices for a menu usually start from 15€.

French health care does not cover visitors to France. Please ensure that you have a suitable insurance coverage for the event of illness or accident. The organizing committee will not accept liability for personal injuries sustained by or for loss or damage to property belonging to the participants.

HOW TO GET TO MONTPELLIER

Montpellier sits at the heart of the Mediterranean arc, halfway between Italy and Spain.

By AIR 

The Montpellier Méditerranée Airport is the 9th French airport and the 1st airport in Languedoc Roussillon. Five regular airlines (Air France, Ryanair, Easyjet, Iberia, Transavia) operate to and from it.
- Paris Orly: 9 daily flights
- Paris Charles de Gaulle: 4 daily flights
- Lyon: 3 daily flights
- Brussels, Frankfort, London Gatwick: 4 weekly flights
- Madrid, London Stansted and Amsterdam: 3 weekly flights

The airport is at 10 kilometers from the centre of Montpellier (15 minutes drive), midway between the town and the sea. Taxis, car rental and a shuttle service (11 times/day) are available. The cost of a taxi is around 20 €, and the cost of the shuttle is around 5 €.

Other options may be:
- To take a flight to Marseille (150 kms from Montpellier), and then take a direct train from the airport or a rental car to Montpellier (1h30 drive by the motorway)

- To take a flight to Gerona (180 Kms from Montpellier) or Barcelona (300 kms from Montpellier) airports in Spain, and then a rental car or a direct train to Montpellier

By TRAIN 

Another way to come to Montpellier from Paris is to take the high-speed train(TGV): 15 high speed trains are operating daily from downtown Paris (3h ½) and 4 daily direct high-speed trains from Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport (4 hours). The train station is located downtown Montpellier near the Corum and most of the hotels.

There are also direct trains to Barcelona, Geneva, Nice and Italy, Bordeaux, etc.

By ROAD 

Montpellier is linked to Paris by the A9 and A75 motorways (around 700 kms). It is also linked to Italy, Spain, Switzerland.

HOW TO REACH THE CORUM CONFERENCE CENTER

The Corum conference center is situated downtown Montpellier at a 5 minutes walk from the railway station and 15 minutes drive from the airport. If you come by the freeway, you should take the exit "Montpellier Est", direction Town Centre (10 min). There is a 500-space car park under Le Corum.
