Welcome to the Private Sector Homepage of the GFAR. Participation in GFAR by Private Sector companies that are interested in agricultural research helps to forge new multi- lateral partnerships and to facilitate the flow of important and new technologies to farmer's fields.

The Private Sector is a large and very diverse constituency, composed of small to large private and parastatal companies, and of associations representing them. The Private Sector is active in the whole agri-food chain, from agricultural inputs (seeds, crop protection, fertilizers...) to the food industry. The B&I Gateway will help you find detailed information on this constituency.

As key players in global agricultural research, the participation in GFAR of the Private Sector investing in agricultural research is critical. Such participation should contribute towards the establishment of a strong cooperative framework that could be used to forge new multilateral partnerships. These, in turn, should facilitate the flow of new agricultural technologies from the Private Sector research laboratories to farmers' fields.

We anticipate that this site will provide a platform for establishing improved dialogue between interested companies and associations, as well as between the Private Sector as a constituency and other GFAR constituencies.

We hope that this site will help to build awareness of the GFAR among a broader cross-section of companies and Private Sector associations, as well as among public sector constituencies. We would also like to see the site used to gain input and feedback from the other constituencies.

On this page, in addition to the Private Sector Gateway, you will find information on activities undertaken by the GFAR Private Sector constituency and discussion papers.

Please feel free to browse our site and give us your comments on ways to improve it. We also encourage you to participate in ongoing dialogues and to suggest topics for new ones.
